I am in my High School Orchestra as a violinist. One thing our Orchestra does is play a piece from a soundtrack each concert. Last year, we did Lord Of The Rings. It was better than the original recording. When this season's soundtrack was being announced, I was praying it would be by Ennio Morricone. It was Star Wars. Now, here's why I was extremely disappointed;
The music by John Williams is very well known. Almost everyone can name like five movies he composed music for. This doesn't mean his music is necessarily good, though. They just happen to be very notable movies. Now if you go up to a random person in High School, and they would most likely never have heard of him. John Williams has done 111 movies to date. Morricone has done 495. People who do know Morricone's work, love it. It is just awesome.
